Letter from Frank regarding one of their friends who joined the confederacy and is in Harper’s Ferry. He comments that Jo will continue to stand with the Union, Frank will too as long as Maryland remains in the Union. Like many Marylanders they were pro Union but also wanted to keep slavery. He makes a comment of the illustration in the upper left of Uncle Sam kicking President of the Confederacy Jeff Davis in the rear. Frank has recently been back to Washington College and reminisces, he also mentions “Old Dr. Wharton.”
