Promotional photograph of First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt receiving her honorary doctorate in law from Washington College President Gilbert Mead. Roosevelt was among three women receiving honorary degrees including writer Sophie Kerr and Mary Adele France. Mrs. Roosevelt gave the commencement address. That years event celebrated fifty years of coeducation at the college.
