Anna Eleanor Roosevelt receiving her honorary doctorate of law from Washington College President Gilbert Mead at the ceremony held in Cain Gym. She also gave the commencement address on the theme of the fiftieth anniversary of coeducation at Washington College. Two others, educator Mary Adele France and author Sophie Kerr, also received honorary degrees.
