She worked to help bring income home for her family and she remembers working late into the night and trying to walk home in blackouts. Her brother-in-law was drafted into the Army and it was hard on her sister and her baby niece. Her sister and Gloria wrote letters to him and sent over packages. During the War, Gloria was a part of the YWCA and would go to large house to eat and dance with the soldiers to try to entertain them and take their minds off of the War that they would soon be a part of.
