James Block gives us an insight to his father’s and grandfather’s experience in the Second World War. He does this through reading his dad’s letters and also by telling the stories of his father being aboard the most decorated ship in the war, The U.S.S. Enterprise. The letters his father, George Lawrence Block, wrote mostly to his mother, Margaret and father contained many details about his life on the Enterprise. He explains his life living in a Navy household and being influenced by his father’s experiences of the war.
