In this interview, Cleaver reflects on his early life and the first time he heard of the bombings of Pearl Harbor. His father was a farmer, so he didn't quite understand that the bombings meant war for America. He also reflects on what rationing looked like for farmers, where anything sweet or sweetener needed to be rationed. It provides some much-needed content to the lives of farmers during the war.
