2014 June 24
Thomas Noble, interviewed by Brady Townsend, and Molli Cole on June 24, 2014, shares his childhood memories of the attack on Pearl Harbor, his father’s service in the Navy during World War II, and his own service in the Navy years later. Noble’s father was in command of the USS Downes when Pearl Harbor was attacked, but happened to be on the USS Detroit, which probably saved his life. Noble who lived on Hawaii at the time of the attack, recounts having to wait four days to find out that his father was still alive. After finishing high school, Noble himself attended the Naval Academy and served in the Navy for 22 years.
