James Slayman is a veteran with many compelling stories from his time in the war. During the war, he was drafted into the Army, where he saw battles in Africa, Sicily, and Italy. He has high praises from his General, General Patton. With the fighting increasing in these countries, Slayman witnessed many of his men perish during the war. He escaped death countless amount of times, from a Jeep explosion to a shoot-out on patrol. During his time in Italy, he was able to visit Pompeii and explore the unique cuisines of the locals.  One memory that sticks with him is how the Italians turned on their leader, Mussolini.
