The oral history interview recounts a soldier's experiences during World War II. He describes being inducted at Fort Dix, assigned to latrine duty, and undergoing training before being deployed overseas. Highlights include his participation in the Battle of the Bulge, crossing the Rhine River, and encountering a concentration camp near Berlin. Noteworthy is a reconnaissance mission where his friend volunteers to take his place, resulting in his friend's death, while the soldier narrowly survives being shot and drowning. He finds refuge with a German family until rejoining his unit.
