In this interview, Lew shares his experiences growing up in the World War II era. He mentions the ways in which he and his family contributed to the war effort, which included collecting tin and fat for drives, purchasing war bonds, and participating in air raid drills. He also discusses the role his faith played in this part of his life, and how the Jewish community reacted to the events of World War II. Lastly, he recounts receiving news about the war, family members that served in the armed forces, and seeing ships torpedoed while visiting the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
