Erney Maher, born in Catonsville, Maryland in 1933, grew up on a 35-acre farm during World War II. His family managed rationing with the help of their farm, and five of his ten siblings were involved in the war effort. Despite disruptions, they maintained a sense of community spirit. Erney's parents respected President Roosevelt's leadership despite political differences.
