Wilson A. Landis, interviewed by Michael Buckley, Molli Cole, JR Bauer, Brady Townsend, and Nicole Gamez on June 10, 2014 and June 18, 2014, served in the Army Air Corps as a B-24 pilot during World War II. Landis graduated from high school in 1939 and left college to enlist in the military following the attack on Pearl Harbor. During his service, Landis flew 35 missions, was shot down twice, and saved the life of his flight navigator. For his service Landis was awarded the Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross, several Air Medals, and was a member of President Roosevelt’s Group Citation for his participation in several key missions.
