The letter starts "Dear Little Buddies," it asks about their first days at school and their dorm room. She talks about getting the money his brother earned fixing a watch and that there are some other clocks that need work. One of the locals "Frank" has been "trying to play off crazy" by tearing up a handkerchief and waving a gun around. She also mentions other local boys that have gone of to war including Warren Carver and his stint in the Navy, she mentions the Navy for his brother Lawrence.
