A nationwide Vietnam Moratorium Day was held on October 15, 1969. In Chestertown, coordinated by Ed Shulman, students, faculty, and community members gathered under the campus elm, then marched downtown. After prayers Peter Edelman gave his remarks, which advocated for a withdrawal from the conflict and criticized the Nixon administrations handling of the war. After Edelman the names of Marylander's killed in Vietnam was read, this portion is cut off in the recording.
