Elizabeth S. Hutchinson's coverage of the 1983 Fall Convocation. Lady Bird Johnson was given an Honorary doctorate of Humane Letters. In her speech she recounted her own college years, the historical and current struggles of women, and stressing the need to continually fight for their rights. Also in attendance was Gov. Harry Hughes, Sen. Paul Sarbaines, Congressman Roy Dyson, delegate Clayton Mitchell, Mayor Elmer Horsey, and Louise Goldstein. There is a musical performance by Joe Glazer.
