At this convocation Dr. James Watson, one of the co-discoverers of DNA, was given an Honorary Doctor of Science. George H. W. and Barbara Bush were both given an Honorary Doctor of Public Service. Both remarked that they are happy to be our of office but still encourage engagement to bring about purposeful change. The Clinton Impeachment was occurring during this event and rather than comment on it, even though many student questions asked, he spoke on his own legacy. There was a question and answer session. The Quantico Military Band also played.
